Telephone Bugging

A Parallel telephone tap can be placed anywhere on the target telephone line pair. For telephone bugging purposes, parallel taps are activated when the telephone line is in use. Does a parallel telephone tap require a microphone to hear the phone conversation? Because the conversation is already in an electronic format, a parallel wiretap merely acquires the audio signals over the telephone lines; therefore, no microphone is needed.

Where is the best place to install telephone bugging equipment? Phone transmitters can be installed within the phone equipment, anywhere along the phone line within the building or house, on a telephone pole, and in the wire closet or terminal room of an office building where many lines are joined to whatever electrical signals are on the telephone line.

Like Series phone transmitters, Parallel taps do not require batteries. The function of the phone transmitter is line powered from the voltage on the phone line.
